Joyful Poinsettia

First let me aplogize for my long abscense in my posting.  My husband and I celebrated his daughter’s wedding this past weekend and we are just now recovered from all the events, celebrating and travel.  It was a beautiful wedding and really fun reception. Here’s to many many years together Amanda and Eric.

Now, for my card today.  IMG_1152

About the card
1.  There have been many postings throughout the stamping community using the new Joyful Christmas poinsettia stamp.  Here’s one more for you that I cased off of a posting by Mary Fish at StampinPretty.typepad.com.  I embossed it on vellum using Stampin Up’s Gold Embossing powder, then snipped it out.  This really makes the flower stand out with shine. I think the next time, I’ll stamp again and cut out the inside set of petals and layer them.

2.  Placement.  I placed the flower so it would hang over, just a bit, on the top and sides to add a little interest. I then tucked a non Stampin Up gold ribbon just on the edge.  I  Love those candy dots.  The sentiment was stamped with Cherry Cobbler then a Cherry cobbler candy dot over the top of the ‘a’, as well as the center of the flower.

3.  Don’t forget the inside.  I stamped the leaves for the poinsettia again on vellum, colored them in with my Always Artichoke marker and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. You can’t tell from the picture but in real life it almost looks like it’s ceramic.  Kinda cool.

This is not an ‘over the top’ type of card but I think it makes a lovely card for anyone on your Christmas Card list this year.

New Halloween Photopolymer and two travel stamp sets now available.
If you haven’t seen or tried any of the Stampin Up’s Photopolymer Stamp Sets you are in for a treat, as there is no trick to these great stamps.  They are clear, for perfect placement, and come in some really cute styles ready for use after use after use.
