A bandanna for Mojo Monday #322

Hi All,  sorry I’ve been absent.  The holidays were hectic around here.  I had 24 wonderful people here for Thanksgiving dinner.  I think we could have had another 24 just to eat up all the desserts.  Whew.  I spent all last week getting everything ready and the weekend recuperating.  I did have a chance to go to my stamping area on Sat and Sunday so I have some things to share.

Today, however is a birthday card I made for one of the guys who works for me in my day job.  I made a commitment to make a birthday card for all 17 of my associates, 15 of which are men.  When you add in a husband, father, 3 brothers and two sons-in-law, I’ve had a lot of practice in getting masculine cards made this year.  Today’s card is for George.  George is from Georgia but has been transplanted up here to Ohio for many years.  I couldn’t resist making him a card that would hopefully remind him of his Southern roots by including a tiny bit of a paper made bandanna.  It also fit nicely with the MoJo Monday sketch came out today.

About the card
1.  To make the bandanna look I used one of the flowers from the Best of Flowers #133342 and Flowering Flourishes #126367 on Coastal Cabana stamped in black stazon.  I used my white chalk marker to outline all the elements in faux white stitching to give it the bandanna look. What do you think?

2. The Happy Birthday Sentiment – purchased as a single stamp – was stamped in versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  I wanted the words to be crisp black on the white cardstock.

3. When I was laying it all out it appeared a little bottom heavy. Even in the sketch it can feel that way. To counterbalance that I place three little rhinestones up in the top left corner.  Yup, that helped.

I hope you all had a great Turkey day and enjoyed family and friends.  Later this week I’ll share some of my home decor and how Stampin Up products came to my rescue.
