My nephew’s birthday is this week. He’s an 15 and that is such a hard age to make a card for. You can’t go with flowers, or zoo animals, or any gushy stuff. I don’t own any stamps, nor will I ever really, that depict any type of motorized vehicle like a motorcycle, truck or car. So, I attempted to go trendy. He’ll probably open this card and roll his eyes and say, Oh Aunt Lynn, ‘Oh Snap’ is so 2010. Sigh. I’m sure he won’t feel that 2010 $20 bill I tucked in there is out of date though, haha.
About my card
1. Lots of texture. The wooden elements allowed me to add some cool texture in dimension and edges to the card. Same with the ribbon and the candy dots throughout. That’s really just me trying to be cool.
2. I did smudge up the edges of most of the elements with early espresso ink for even more eye interest.
3. The finished size of this card is 5.5 x 5. So bigger than standard but not square. Also, me trying to be cool. Thank goodness for the envelope punch board to make the envelope to mail it to him. That punch board is a real time and money saver. Love that thing.
Thanks for stopping by today. I do so appreciate all of you who read my blog and send me your comments. They really mean a lot.

Spot on, Lynn! He’ll love it.
Great layout!
Great card Lynn!
LOL I’m with you on the stamp thing for guys! When Justin opened his birthdaty card, he really looked at it, how it was made and liked it (he’s artistic), and the bills inside made him smile too. When Andrew got his Valentine’s Day card with cookies, he called me and said how good the cookies were, no mention of the card. Wonder if he kept it? Oh well, I’ll keep sending them home made cards. Eventually, I hope, they will know it was just for them.
