My granddaughter Avery, the namesake of my blog, is having her first ballet recital today. She is 4 1/2 now and has been going to ‘Ballerina School’ for over a year. I don’t know about her, but I’m very excited about her first recital. Let’s just hope she doesn’t freeze on stage, thank you Brian King for putting that in my head : )
To honor her first recital I wanted to make something for her that was of course ballerina related. I created the ballerina hanging on the bag using my new Silhouette and a download file – just $0.99. I added some bling because Avery, already at the age of 4, loves bling. She is very much a ‘girl’.
I found this doll in a little store up in Amish country here in Ohio this week and thought it would be perfect. Avery has dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes so to find a doll that also had those attributes was a real win.
Somewhere along the line I had received this gift bag. If you can’t tell from the picture, the bag is clear with white leaves and flowers on it. I used some of my Blendability Markers – available for purchase later this summer/fall – to color in the flowers and leaves. Blendability markers are alcohol based and so, like a permanent marker, can write and stay on most anything.
Before and after…
In my next post I’ll report on how she did and a picture of the real Avery in her recital costume.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Lynn
Lynn, She’s going to be amazing – and this bag and ballerina tag are amazing. I’m sorry for putting that “the best dancer in the class is the one who freezes up on stage and does nothing” idea in your head. Of course that doesn’t apply to Avery. Her incredible performance will WOW you even more if you are expecting nothing. 🙂 Can’t wait to see photos.
Hi Lynn, I am so excited for you and Avery. I remember watching Leah in her recitals; I often got choked up. She was a beautiful dancer. I suggest bring the tissues. If she doesn’t make you cry you will probably laugh til your crying. The little ballerinas always steal the show 🙂
So cute! I’m in the midst of making paper dolls for my Niece. I have the old Paper Dolls stamp set and going to give it a try.
Thanks for sharing with us. So very nicely done.
So sweet…I bet she loved all the “bling!” : )
She’ll love was Nini made for her!
