Three things I love about Steve

This week is my hubby’s birthday, Steve.  Here are three things I love about him, not the only things, just the one’s I tell him I love about him all the time.  1) He is really tall and has really long arms.  Those two things together means we never have something we can’t reach.  He gets things off of high shelves, changes light bulbs without standing on ladders and trims trees.  Really nice to have one of these around.  2) He does all the laundry and vacuums the floors.  Now don’t get excited, he doesn’t do bathrooms and he doesn’t do much cooking.  But fair is fair,  I can do the cooking, and hire a cleaning person to do the bathrooms – I really do have a cleaning person, his name is Cliff and he is awesome. 3) He always keeps gas in my car.  He will, without me asking take my car to go get gas will dump gas from our garage gas cans into my car.  As in most marriages, it isn’t the big things that keep you loving a person, it’s the little things.  Here is what I made for him for his birthday.

Stampin Up Oh My Goodies Box Punch Board Scalloped tag Topper

We aren’t really the gooshy kind of couple.  We are very affectionate but not overly gift givey.  I nearly always get flowers on my birthday, our anniversary, valentines day and mothers day and I LOVE fresh flowers I also love that he remembers I love flowers and buys them for me.  I also know that my husband loves chocolate.  This little cute box is filled with Hershey chocolate nuggets.  I followed the instructions by Connie Stewart on Simply Simple Stamping.com and used my Box Punch Board in a modified way to make this more shallow box using a 6×6 piece of Kraft Cardstock.  Check out here video here.

Stampin Up Oh My Goodies Box Punch Board Scalloped tag TopperNow, did you know that there is now Crushed Curry embossing powder.  Do you know how cool this is when used on dark cardstock especially this time of year.  Very cool, that’s how cool. I had ordered my Crushed Curry embossing powder several weeks – ok maybe months – ago and then forgot about it.  That is until today when I was making this box tag for Steve.  I first had stamped the image from Oh My Goodies on Crushed Curry cardstock with Early Espresso Ink.  It was ok, not great.   Then the light bulb flashed and I remembered my embossing powder.  It was so much better using that powder on Early Espresso cardstock.  It just pops.  Love it.

The Crushed Curry chevron ribbon is laced through a tag made using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch – use one piece cut to 3 -1/4 x 2 inches and punch the scallop tag topper on both ends. This also makes a perfect layer for one of the Chalk Talk framelits.

  2. Love it! Fun write-up, too. My least favorite thing in the world? Filling up on gas – I wait until the exact last minute every time. Love these leaves, Lynn – they are becoming a signature accent for you. Happy birthday, Steve!
