Unfortunately, I have had to use up my entire supply of Sympathy cards these last two weeks. Death’s of friends, family do tend to come in bunches. Our dear friends Ronny and Judy lost Judy’s father in June. This is the card I made for them. Stop back on Monday to see another card I made using the same technique for the design.
I cropped a square using the Square framelit in the same area as the card base to form a window to the inside. I stamped the floral arrangement from Awesomely Artistic on the front of the card using Early Espresso. I used the Blackberry Bliss marker to highlight some of the flowers then topped them off with a tiny pearl.
I used a fun technique for the background inside the card. Starting with the the Boho Chic embossing folder, I used sponge daubers and three colors of ink – Blackberry Bliss, Early Espresso, Tip Top Taupe – randomly covering all of the bumpy side of the folder. Spritz it with water so the ink runs together then lay a piece of watercolor paper on the folder and burnished with my fingers. By carefully lifting off, straight up – the ink has colored by paper only where it touched. I like that it isn’t ‘perfect’ and there are some splotches or lighter areas. Because this card is going to our good friends, I wasn’t concerned about not having ‘white’ space to write on inside the card. Our names plus the sentiment will be enough.
