We all know that masculine birthday cards can be challenging but I have to say that this one came together very easily. My Brother-in-Law’s birthday is early in February and we will be seeing him when we travel to California in a few weeks. He has a cabin in the mountains so I felt the In the Meadow would make a card he would like.
I stared by creating a mask for the deer image. I stamped it on a piece of post it note with the heads on the sticky end and carefully cut it out. (TIP – Save your masks in the stamp case for using another time. No need to cut it out again.) I stamped the image on my card stock then laid the mask over the image before stamping the mountain image. I used an aqua painter to add a little bit of color. The picture really doesn’t do it justice. I used soft suede for the deer and Night of Navy and Marina Mist for the mountains. Pear Pizzaz for the meadow and soft sky for the sky line. I also used my soft suede marker and basic black marker, the little ends, to add detail and shading for the deer. I also used my white gel pen on the back of the fawn and ears. The happy birthday sentiment is from Rose Garden stamp set. The finished size of this card is 5×5.
Don’t forget the inside. The tree image, also from In the Meadow was stamped with Soft Suede with Pear Pizzaz, Soft Suede and Soft Sky highlights.
