Well, it is the first Monday in January and that means many of us are going back to work after the holidays, myself included. It’s been nice being off but I’m ready to go back to see my staff and hear about their holidays.
My daughter, Katie, asked me a few months ago if I could make a calendar for her to sit on her work desk. She shared a picture from Pinterest for what she wanted. Click here to see the inspiration. And here is my take.
I ordered a (5×7) shadow box frame off of Amazon to hold the calendar. I was lucky that Stampin Up came out with Number of Years and I could order it in December. The numbers were perfect for creating the days. Each was stamped in Mint Macaron with a touch of So Saffron sponged at the bottom.
For the months, I used the Little Letters Thinlits from the annual catalog to make the 3 letters needed for each of the months, all done in basic black. Each month is a little different but all use one of the flowers from the free Sale-a-Bration stamp set Flowering Fields. You can get this set free as well with a $50 product purchase.
I used another free item from Sale-a-Bration for the background paper behind the calendar tags, Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper. All the paper in this collection are solid color/white in swirls making it a perfect background. I chose a piece of smoky slate to compliment the dark gray frame. Don’t wait though, this paper is only available for a limited time and must be ordered by February 15.
If you are considering trying this on your own I would suggest starting with your frame first and then the hooks you will use. Both of those will determine the size of your tags. You’ll need 13 tags altogether.
- 6 tags for the months, each double sided
- 0/1, and 2/3 for the middle tags
- 0/1, 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, 8/9
