I mentioned in my last post that I was making several sympathy cards last week. Sympathy cards are one of those types of cards I rarely make ahead of time. I have of course, but I seem to prefer to make the card specifically for the recipient. Perhaps because some I might have a religous sentiment, others just expressing thoughts and prayers. Either way, it is a personal demonstration of how I feel.
For this card, I was inspired by a slide show I saw in church. The slide was a background for a hymn we were all singing but I was struck by the way the colors and images worked together and how similar they were to our new Timeless Texture stamp set from the Occassions Catalog. To create the look I decided on my color pallet first.
Using my Brayer I added Soft Sky first, then a little Pool Party, also with the Brayer. Then I used the border image with Lost Lagoon. The flurish was with Soft Suede as was the ring.
I stamped the bible verse from Rose Wonder using Versamark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I thought about doing it the other way around, embossing first, but I was concerned that the embossing would affect the background image. Note, if you do the background first before embossing the sentiment, be sure to make sure all the ink is dry and you use your Embossing Buddy over the entire piece before stamping. I used a sponge dauber with Soft Suede over the sentiment to make it show up a bit more.
I used the Blossoms Bunch punch to create the flowers. This punch has three sizes of flowers in each punch. I used Soft Sky and Soft Suede then curled them with a bone folder until the layers of the paper separated. The Antique Brad holds it all together with a piece of crochet trim.
