5 Years ago, in March of 2013, I made the best decision ever and chose to become a Stampin Up demonstrator under Brian King. Brian recently sent me the coolest gift ever, an engraved Clear Stamp Block, commemorating my 5 years as a demo, and 5 years as a member of his InKing Royalty Group. I even remember when he first came up with the name InKing Royalty.
Of course I was ‘just’ going to be a Hobby Demonstrator meaning I wasn’t planning on selling to anyone, but wanted that 20% discount. Brian had other plans for me. : ) Brian kept talking to me about starting a blog. Five years ago today, On July 18, 2013, I published my first blog post here on Avery’s Owlery. The name came from my Granddaugher, Avery, and her nursery decorated in Owls. Avery is a big girl now, almost 9 and going into 3rd grade and no longer has Owls decorating her nursery but the name is the same. Over the last 5 years I have posted 634 times (that’s an average of 10 times a month, not bad for someone who was only going to be a Hobby Demo.
Brian had talked me into starting a blog. Then he talked me into going to my first stamping event with other demos, his second annual World Card Making Day in Atlanta. It has been non stop ever since. I’ve attended multiple World Card Making Day events by Brian as well as several Stampin Up hosted conventions. I’ve have stamping friends all over the USA and a supportive facebook family I can brag to, cry with and celebrate all that happens in our lives.
I’ve started my own stamping club and held monthly classes in my home and met so many wonderful local people, all because of Stamping Up. Now I even have a dedicated Stampin Studio aka Craft Room with all my many many stamps, ink, paper, ribbon, markers, etc, etc, etc.
I obviously did not remain a hobby demonstrator for long.
Thank you Brian for pushing me when I needed to be pushed and being a part of my life these last 5 wonderful years. I’m so proud to be a member of your team and holding the title of Loyal Royal.
I love you, Lynn, and am so happy this amazing craft has brought us together. I’m so happy you have been able to share stamping with so many in your area and across the world with your blog. You are amazing!
Thank you so much Brian. I couldn’t have done it without you. Love you to pieces.

WOW, WOW, WOW . . . love, love, love the story. Happy 5th Anniversary. I will make my 5th Anniversary in October, a birthday gift to myself. I love your engraved clear block, what a beautiful remembrance. Also, I must comment on your plant. I have the exact one . . . do you water it with ice cubes?
🙂
Thanks so much Nancy. No, I’ve not watered it with ice cubes. Should I? The plant is in a plastic pot, tucked inside the bucket so I just water it when I think of it and it sits in the bucket soaking it up. I bought it from IKEA of all places.
Lynn
Congratulations, Lynn!!! I loved reading your story!
(This is my 5th year, too.)
Huggs!
