A Foggy Night of Navy

Today’s card was something would be easy to recreate, but took a while because the picture I had in my head wasn’t working the way I wanted it to.  I had seen a picture of a valley of pine trees shrouded in fog and wanted to create a version of that.  I figured vellum would play a big part in getting the look.

THE TREES

I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set and Night of Navy ink.  I played around with full on ink at the top of the page and re-stamping as I moved down then did it the opposite and used the full ink version at the bottom then moved up as the ink dissipated.

I still wanted some more full strength in the middle so I stamped up the whole image then stamped off the bottom of the image on my grid paper so only the tops of the trees were really inked and stamped it in the middle of my image.

THE SENTIMENT

My first inclination was to have just a white space above the trees but it was too much so I used the large background stamp from Rooted in Nature and stamped in Night of Navy, stamped off once.  I then stamped full strength the Thinking of You sentiment on top.

Next I lined up my vellum exactly where I wanted it and punched holes in the top for the gingham ribbon.  That was going to be all that was holding down the vellum.  I carefully lined up the thinking of you sentiment, nice because it is photopolymer, and stamped again using full strength Night of Navy.  I quickly powdered it with clear embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool.  Any of the Stampin Up colors can be heat embossed in this way if you are quick about putting on the powder.
