Hello New Blend Colors

My card today is a great big HELLO to the new Stampin Blend colors available in the Annual Catalog.  I was so excited to see additional colors added to the blend collection.  I love to mix multiple shades of a color, say Green, to get the look I want and having only two shades of Old Olive was great but not enough for me.  My wish was granted when I saw on page 205 with 11 new colors and four of them were Green – Call Me Clover, Granny Apple Green and Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam.  Wow

  • Call Me Clover
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Granny Apple Green
  • Highland Heather
  • Lovely LIpstick
  • Mint Macaron
  • Petal Pink
  • Pineapple Punch
  • Poppy Parade
  • Soft Sea Foam
  • Soft Suede

I decided to highlight almost all the new colors by creating a pretty background piece.  I stamped first with the flower image from Botanical Bliss.  I selected this one because of the open line drawing making it perfect for coloring.

I generally used just the light and dark of each color for the flowers, with a few exceptions.  It really highlights the shading opportunities with just those two markers.  Once completed I used a sponge dauber to add Balmy Blue all around the flowers.

I had no idea when I started this project how I was going to finish it up because when I started it was all just to practice with the colors.  Once it was completed, I chose to really highlight the brightness by adding a layer of Poppy Parade but also soften it with a Crumb Cake card base.  The Pineapple Punch ribbon adds some more brightness

The sentiment is from Accented Blooms and punched out with the Tailored Tag. I still needed to have something behind so I chose the inside cut out from the Broadway Lights Framelits.  The large frame has an inside cutting edge and an outside which allows for the inside of the frame to be a great cut out.  I liked that it wasn’t a perfect rectangle.

Two fantastic programs are going on this month
