Making Spirits Bright

I have found that I really enjoy making Holiday cards. I never seem to tire of of and the different styles. It also gives me plenty to send out to friends and family. Today I have another holiday card also CASEd from the Holiday Catalog on page 6.

THE PROCESS

I love how this card turned out but it wasn’t the simplest card to create. Let’s start with the light bulbs.

I stamped several bulbs using the Making Christmas Bright stamp set in Balmy Blue, Real Red, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight. I stamped off on each bulb but I think if I were to make this card again I would do a full strength stamp instead.

I punched them out with the Christmas Bulb Punch and punched out the bulbs again only without stamping and using Gray Granite for the bulb bases.

Last bit of preparation was to use my Pretty Pines thinlit dies for some branches. Some of those branches on the card are stamped using the Christmas Pines stamp set, some are die cut.

I like that I have been reaching for the Pretty Pines Thinlits and the Christmas Pines stamp set so frequently this year. It was so popular last year when it was first released and hasn’t dimineshed for me at all since.

The most tedious part was the layout. Getting all those bulbs in the paper and enough room for the ‘glow’ behind. I used sponge daubers for that look.

The sample in the catalog has a background paper on the cardstock. I didn’t use that, instead I used one of the star stamps and repeated it at an angle all across the cardstock.
