Over the last few years, Stampin’ UP! has been doing something fantastic. Ok, well lots of things they do are fantastic: great products, coordinating colors, and amazing patterned paper. Most recently the dies have been designed to cut out not only the stamp set images but often the images in the Designer Series Paper as well. Genius. My Happy Christmas card is an example of how easy it is to create with DSP.
There is one sheet of the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper that is full of houses and trees, all can be cropped using the Home Together Dies from the Coming Home stamp/die bundle. I decided to cut them all out and make something up with them.
Look at all those, from just one piece (partial, because I had already used some of that sheet) of DSP!
I decided to go relatively simple for this card in terms of layers so I started by using one of the dies to make a few horizon lines with a black pen. That done, I played around with which house and what color until I was happy. I stamped some trees then place the houses, just using snail to adhere them.
I added the lamp posts afterward. The car was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cropped and colored lightly with Pool Party Stampin Blends. The Happy Christmas sentiment, that I think is perfect for this whimsical scene is from the Warm Hugs stamp set.
I love a great color combination and Poppy Parade, Pool Party and Black is one of my favorites.
Here are a few other cards I’ve made using the Coming Home bundle. Click the image to see my original posts.
