Versatile Stitched Leaves

The great thing about paper crafting is it isn’t just for card making or scrapbooking, gift-giving. Paper Crafting can also be used for Home Decor too. My projects today use the versatile Stitched Leaves on a battery-operated candle and a coordinating card to go with it.

Recently a fellow demonstrator, Ann Murry posted a project using Stitched Leaves dies on candles and I loved her project so much, I recreated my own version. You can see Ann’s post HERE.

Stitched Leaves

Some of the Stitched Leaves were used for the candle and some for the card. I paired the leaves with the Autumn Greetings sentiment from Autumn Greetings and embossed it with Copper powder. The background is a piece of World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper stamped with an image from Celebration Tidings with Crumb Cake ink.

Tips and Tricks

I started my project by cropping all 6 stitched leaves in each of my four fall colors, Merry Merlot, Terracotta Tile, Old Olive and, Daffodil Delight.

Next step was to sponge color onto each of the leaves. I only used Merry Merlot on those leaves, but the others I use combinations of all the colors, plus some Early Espresso on the edges.

I really liked how Ann used thin strips of green cardstock to make curls. I cut Old Olive cardstock to 1/4 x 11 and wrapped it all around a pencil. I push each edge of the cardstock into the Early Espresso stamp pad. This adds some color just to the edges.
