Darling Donkeys and Masking

Ok, so it took me half a minute to realize just how adorable the Darling Donkeys are in the free (with $50 purchase) stamp set. I admit I wasn’t enamored with them like some of you are but I finally came around and here is what I created for you today.

Darling Donkeys

It would be a shame not to highlight each of the donkey drawings on my card but I quickly realized they would not fit all side by side on a standard-sized card front. I moved them around with the thought of stamping them all three, coloring them then possibly snipping them out instead.

Once they were on the paper I immediately thought of a way to use them just like they were by drawing dividing lines to box each one in. My ruler and grid paper made this really easy to do. I of course colored them with stampin blends.

Still a little plain. How about some color in each area? I had stamped and colored the donkeys twice, the first time the ink smeared and so I had started again but that gave me a great opportunity to create a spotlight effect by using my oval punch on each donkey.

Darling Donkey Masking

Masking is fun and pretty easy with post-it notes so each donkey section was masked off from the others and then colored with a blending brush. Remove the mask and oval and each donkey has a spotlight.
