A Triangle Background Card

A few posts ago I made a Hexagon card (you can see that post HERE). My stamp class made the hexagon card as well and at the end of the class, I had one leftover kit that didn’t get used. A person can only have so many hexagon cards so I decided to put all the pieces and parts of the kit back in with my supplies but held off on the 4 triangle pieces of DSP. There surely could be something creative I could do with them, right Here is what I came up with.

By laying the triangle pieces on a piece of basic white I had a fun background full of color and contrast. Each piece started out the same size, instructions are below, but was cut down once adhered to the white.

Step by step for building a fun background card

  1. Basic white thick cardstock cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
  2. Emboss Pattern Party DSP 4 x 5-1/4 with Tasteful Textures 3D embossing Folder and adhere with tape runner to the card front.
  3. Cut two pieces of Pattern Party DSP to 2-1/4 x 4. Cut each piece on the diagonal for a total of 4 pieces.
  4. Adhere triangles, alternating patterns, on a piece of basic white 3-1/4 x 4-3/4. The ends will hang off a bit. Line up the bottom triangle with the right angle in the bottom right corner. Put the rest of the triangles on the panel, leaving about 1/8″ in between and always lining up on the right side. Trim off the left side so the final piece is 3-1/8 x 4-3/4. Add to the card front with tape runner at an offset angle
  5. Stamp Happy and Birthday in Memento Tuxedo Black and Bumblebee Ink on a piece of basic white cardstock 3 x 1-3/4. Stamp the + images in pool party ink. Adhere to 3-5/8 x 1-1/2 piece of pool party cardstock with tape runner.
  6. Add tape runner to back of pool party and lay Pool Party ribbon across the back three times as shown. Use dimensional to adhere to the triangle panel as shown.
