Hand Penned Feel Better Card

Sometimes a lot of layers on a card can be daunting, but other times, it adds just the right amount of interest and background to the focal feature. My Hand Penned card today is a CASe (copy and share everything or Creatively and selectively edit) of my leader Brian King. You can see his original post below.

Brian used a background stamp set I don’t own so I had to be creative but I’ve been a fan of the focal image from Hand Penned since it was released in May.

Step by Step Hand Penned

  1. Basic white thick cardstock cut 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  2. Evening evergreen – gosh I love this color – cut 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 and embossed with the new Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder and adhered to card front with tape runner.
  3. So Saffron cardstock cut to 3-1/2 x 4-1/2. Hand Penned Designer Series Paper cut to 3-1/4 x 4-1/4. A 13″ piece of Evening Evergreen – Gosh I still love this color – woven ribbon, and finally a piece of Basic white cut to 3 x 4.
  4. Use a blending brush – another of my favorite products – to add a circle of so saffron ink in the center. TIP – normally I would advise you to starte the blending brush off the paper then move in a circular motion onto the paper, but with this design it is all in the center. So instead, ink up the blending brush then very softly apply the brush gently to the paper in a circular motion increasing pressure as you go. This will prevent a big blob of color right in the middle.
  5. Stamp the image from Hand Penned stamp set over top of the ink using Evening Evergreen – did I mention I love that color! Stamp sentiment from in bottom right corner.
  6. Adhere the ribbon in a z pattern on top of the DSP using tape runner – Seal + or Tear Tape work best – then add the focal piece with dimensional. Finish it off with three Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (retired). Or use the new Matt Decorative Dots or Brushed Metallic Adhesive backed dots.
